We are delighted to welcome Nasanin Dahaghin and Julius Pristauz in the framework of the super soft summer residency to soft power from 15.7.–15.8.2026.
Nasanin Dahaghin and Julius Pristauz explore questions surrounding authenticity, (re)presentation, and performance; pop as a vehicle for emotions and body images; and what happens when choreographic and musical practices intersect. As part of the residency, Nasanin and Julius will deepen their collaboration – which draws from the fields of conceptual performance art and visual art, as well as music, sound production, and sound performance – and work together on a new performance and new musical and filmic material: “Somewhere between a live concert, karaoke, a cover song, a lip-sync performance, and a DJ set, we want to develop a stage situation that oscillates between genuine intimacy and superficial staging.”
Nasanin Dahaghin is a Berlin-based performer, sound artist, and DJ. Her artistic practice operates at the intersection of dance, choreography, time-based media art, performance, and sound installation. In her work, she explores rituals, dualities, and mythologies, as well as the relationship between sound and movement. Voice, rhythm, and repetition serve as her central artistic tools for structuring perception and creating spaces for collective experience.
Julius Pristauz navigates performative forms of expression and their relationship to built space across various media and formats. His work frequently addresses the construction and permeability of identities, as well as tensions between private and public spheres in the broader sense. In addition to his artistic practice, he works as an independent curator and writer in the field of contemporary culture.
The super soft residency is a format, in which soft power regularly welcomes artists, musicians or performers to take over our space for a period of time to pursue, rehearse, explore their current research, projects and ideas. For the summer iteration of the residency programme, an Open Call was published in May 2026, addressing Berlin-based artists and collectives of all disciplines who are facing space constraints.
Alongside this year’s residency coordinator Federica Nicastro, we would like to thank all the artists who applied for the residency – We received many impressive applications that not only reflect the artistic diversity and excellence but also the urgent need for workspaces that exists in this city.
