Dancer and performer Sophia Seiss is working on the translation of bodily processes into social phenomena. With Inflammations as a working theme for her super soft residency, through the development of a new solo Seiss aimed to explore how an idea, a gesture or even a random occurrence may kick off a wave that affects a mass of people. Her new work Inflammations describes on the one hand a burning from inside, a pulsation of a wound or a pain, while also referring to a social phenomenon triggering a process in society; the initiation of One becoming Many. Sophia Seiss is a dancer, performer and teacher who lives and works in Berlin. She is currently doing the M.A program EXERCE Institut Chorégraphique International in Montpellier. She is working with musicians, visual artists and choreographers in Germany, France, Switzerland and Ukraine.
The super soft residency is a format, in which soft power regularly welcomes artists, musicians or performers to take over our space for a period of time to pursue, rehearse, explore their current research, projects and ideas.
