AFAIK is a collective founded in 2023, producing video installations, performance pieces and sculptures which explore the absurdity of capitalism and its griefless nature. Since 2023, the collective has been working on a trilogy, each part of which will consist of a video installation, sculptures, and found objects as essential protagonist leading the plot. As the first of three exhibitions, Mama, Bubu & me was presented at GROTTO in February 2024, featuring a video installation, three mirrors, a stuffed swan and a live performance. During their super soft residency AFAIK are researching and rehearsing for the trilogy’s upcoming iteration, which will include among others a seance, a choir and magical objects. 

AFAIK consists of Katharina Ruhm (designer and art director), Yael Esti Mor (performer, writer and video artist) and Maidje Meergans (photo- and videographer who studies sociology and political sciences). 

The super soft residency is a format, in which soft power regularly welcomes artists, musicians or performers to take over our space for a period of time to pursue, rehearse, explore their current research, projects and ideas. Towards the end of their residency, AFAIK will participate in a communal Open Studio event held at the factory on July 6 from 14.00–19.00.
