Charlotte Rohde is a (type-)designer and multidisciplinary artist, working on the intersection of image and language. She researches hyperfemininity, pop/internet culture and the economy of trust; letters as an extension of the body and how they can shape feminist discourses in society. Commissioned by and in exchange with soft power since 2021, she is developing the variable typeface NewEdge 666. The typeface is in use by soft power since May 2021, thus already since before its completion, to highlight the process of the evolving typography over time.
Charlotte is currently the Guest Professor for Typography and Type Design at Bauhaus Universität Weimar. She has been teaching and giving lectures i.a. at Princeton University (2022), AdbK Nürnberg (2022), UdK Berlin (2022), Forward Festival Berlin (2022), Kunstverein Bielefeld (2022), Kunsthochschule Kassel (2022), Burg Giebichenstein Halle (2021), Aalto University Finland (2021), HfBK Bremen (2021), and Central Saint Martins London (2020).
