Performance & Book Launch, 23.10.2026, 19.00–21.00
"In these turbulent times, as many turn away from listening, we refuse to follow this indifference. In defiance, we listen deeper."
Luïza Luz first wrote this sentence in their book Beneath the Surface (2024), in response to the gap between the progressive rhetoric and the sudden silences of cultural and educational institutions. In September 2025, they spoke these words at MoMA PS1 during the Printed Matter New York Art Book Fair. That lecture was transcribed and became a book of its own.
At soft power kehrt der Satz zum Körper zurück. Luïza Luz präsentiert beide Publikationen durch das gesprochene und gesungene Worte und tiefes Zuhören. Der Abend markiert den Start der zweiten Ausgabe von „Beneath the Surface: Deep Listening, Buried Narratives, and Embodied Resistance“ (Archive Books / we make it, 2024–26) sowie die Veröffentlichung von „In Defiance, We Listen Deeper: (dis)Embodiment & the Planetary Transition“ (Secret Riso Club / we make it, 2026).
"This is a moment of collapse. And it has to happen."
Disembodiment they voice, "is how we allow systems of power to control the ways we listen and the ways we speak." As a step one, to refuse the systems operating to destroy life: "We start listening to our bodies." Human and more-than-human, these bodies are living archives, holding the wisdom needed for liberation. The invitation is to learn how to listen.
